Matru Sangama

The first day of the first half of Magha in the year Pramathi, corresponding to February 6, 2000.  That was an eventful day in Mangalore.  Surging were mothers and sisters from villages after villages of South Canara, Kodagu and Kasargodu districts.  Endless streams flowing in to form a gigantic confluence! An enormous gathering symbolizing Mother’s-Power! A gathering made possible by women-volunteers who had worked tirelessly throughout.  Persons of repute from all parts f India had come to have the sacred darshan of that power, and their presence added luster to the occasion.

Prof.  Rajendra Singhji, the 4th Sarasanghchalak of the RSS, Sadhwi Ritambara of the VHP, Smt. Tripta Thapar, the brave mother of the the martyr of the Kargil struggle, the valiant Vijayanth Thapar and Alaka Inamdar,  Akhila Bharateeya Shareerikh Pramukh, Rashtra Sevika Samiti, participated and spoke.

Indescribable was the spectable of the Mathru-Sangama.  Forty six thousand Mothers! Besides, tens of thousands of men also took part in the shobhayatra(procession) in the afternoon and in the Conference held in the evening.
