Founder

Late Sri Ajit Kumar, a gold medalist in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering branches, graduated from University Vishweshwaraiah College of Engineering, Bangalore. He founded the Hindu Seva Prathishthana in 1980 and was its founder Director. He was born on 27th Aug 1934. His father, Sri Bramha Suraiah, and mother Smt. Putta Tayamma, hailed from the village Gudibande in the vicinity of Bangalore. He was a great social worker with many innovative social experiments to his credit. His unique style of functioning was based on the principle “Concern for all, attachment to none”. He was often called “A saint in a hurry”. After his graduation in 1957, till his last breath in 1990, he was a full time social worker and a bachelor. An unfortunate road accident cut short his life when he was just 56.

Having the legendary Yogacharya Shri. B.K.S. Iyengar and Shri. Pattabhi Jois as his mentors, he became an authority on Yoga and an expert in the field. Besides taking up Homeopathy, to which he was introduced by Dr. Krishnamurthy, he showed great interest in Psychology, Accountancy, Anatomy and other such disciplines. He strived for excellence in all walks of life. Hindu Seva Prathisthana is his brain child.

Seva Dina (Founder’s Day)

In honor of Late Shri. Ajith Kumar, HSP Kulapati Pujya Shri. Shri. Vishweshateertha Swamiji called upon the Sevavratis to commemorate that day of Ajithji’s demise every year (Margashira Bahula Bidige –according to Hindu Calendar) as ‘SEVA DINA’.

Every year during December, HSP celebrates its Founder’s day as Seva Dina. On this day, it brings together service-minded persons in various fields, Groups and Institutions on a common platform. They deliberate, plan and organize various service activities, so that Seva becomes truly a movement.

Deliberations, plans and proposals in respect of various activities that HSP takes place every year on founder’s day- Seva Dina. People from various walks of life join together on a common platform and dedicate themselves for the cause of the HSP.

HSP is committed to the upliftment of the under-served and the people with special needs without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, race, gender or religion.
