Going by the statistics, from 1983 till 2011, Unemployment rates in India averaged 9 per cent reaching an all-time high of 9.4 per cent in December 2010 and a record low of 3.8 per cent in December 2011. According to India Skills Report launched in the 3rd CII National Conference on Skill Development, 34 per cent were found employable out of about 1,00,000 candidates. Nele - Swavalambana; the programme started with an intention to help youth who are deprived of good education to get employment through occasional training. What started in 2007 with 2 tailoring machines and in 2013 with computers training, has so far trained about 900 women in tailoring and about 201 youth in computers and spoken English. The programme provided occasional training in the area of job-oriented courses such as office assistant, security, technician, driving, livelihood skills etc. Overall, 28 batches of tailoring and 25 batches of computer training have been imparted at the centre.
